Father's Day Photo DIY

Hopefully you won't have forgotten, but it's Father's Day on Sunday! So why not treat your dad to something a little different, something with a really personal touch that is great fun, if not a little embarrassing to make?!

Today, I am sharing with you my tutorial for a DIY Father's Day photo montage.
You will need:

-Large cardboard or wooden letters-white works well if you're wearing colours or patterns; black will work well if you're wearing light-coloured clothing.
-A plain backdrop
-A camera
-A tripod-or a volunteer you are happy to make silly faces at!!

That's it, folks!

Just think up a fun little message you want to send to your dad and spell it out! It took me an entire afternoon and lots of fiddling with the self-timer on my camera before I got the shots I wanted.

Then, being the amateur photographer that I am, I felt inclined to have a play on Photoshop (I use Elements) and I decided to go for a bit of colour-selection to really make the letters pop!

I pulled all my shots together onto one A3 sized canvas and fiddled until I had the look I wanted-depending on the length of your words you may have smaller or larger photos than I have.

I used a website I love called Photobox to print my montage onto a Matte A3 poster and, lucky for me, they were having a 60% off sale on all poster prints! How about that for timing! So I managed to get it for super cheap, but even at normal prices, they are very reasonable. I have used these guys a lot over the years for my A levels etc. and each time they have really delivered. Super-fast service and high-quality at that!

So there you have it. A fun, unique idea for your dad on Father's Day-if you're stuck for ideas, this is the DIY for you!

Happy Father's Day to all those fab dads out there!

  3. I love the way you edited the photos. Very cute. I can't wait to do it for my husband with the kids. I'll just have to find someone to take them because I am horrible at taking pictures. Thanks for sharing at Mom's Library

    1. Hiya Brytan :-) I used Photoshop to pull all of the images onto one A3 flat background, then I sent that image off to be printed as a poster. I hope that helps :-)
